PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Duration: 12 weeks

This short course is aimed at management or employees wishing to improve business systems, structures and resources sustainability. The programme provides an overview of the most important project management functions and will assist in developing the essential skills needed to manage a project, some of the skills are summarised as follows:

  • Project-based work done more effectively and efficiently, acquire practical skills and knowledge.
  • Identify and address risks, convert those risks into opportunities.
  • Estimate time and cost, manage a team and communicate with stakeholders with greater depth and understanding.
  • An understanding of the technical concepts of Project Management

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the important theories, principles and concepts underlying the management of projects.
  • Apply these theories, principles, and concepts both to case studies and within their work environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of the effective management of projects both within their organisations and within the environment in which they operate.

Admission Requirements:

  • Twenty-three years of age.
  • Three years business/work experience.
  • Senior certificate or NQF 4 equivalent.

Assessments

Two online assessments (assignment or test) will be administered during the offering of this course and feedback will be provided to students to ensure formative development.

Operations management is used to describe the processes concerned with planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the overall Operations environment to produce goods and or services. This course will provide students with an understanding of how to implement operations management principles in the service or manufacturing industry.

INTEGRATED LOGISTICS SUPPORT MANAGEMENT

Duration: 12 weeks

In a rapidly changing global economy, it is essential to understand analytically the functioning of supply chains and to be able to know what strategies will produce the best results.

Learning Outcomes

  • To demonstrate an advance integrated knowledge in applying and evaluating the logistics and process components of e integrated logistics system.
  • To interrogate and evaluate the operational and engineering logistics issues of the ILS.
  • To demonstrate an advance insight of the complexities in the application of the Integrated Logistics Support Management environment through the systematic analysis of the existing ILS processes within an enterprise and developing tacit knowledge for the purpose of value optimization by applying the quality continuum.
  • To demonstrate advance knowledge of key Integrated Logistics Support Management principles for the purpose of optimising the ILS performance by applying tacit and explicit knowledge.
  • To analyse and critically reflect on current cross-functional processes to continuously improve the internal value chain of the organisation.
  • To propose a change of Integrated Logistics Support Management strategies within a changing environmental context through new. or improved processes with the aid of analysis and evaluation of qualitatively and quantitatively performance metrics for resource for decision-making purposes
  • Develop analytical and decision-making skills for dealing with complex conceptual problems in an ethical manner by identifying the deltas in the supply chain and support functions.

Assessments

This course is a continuous assessment subject. There are no formal exams but assignments are compulsory. Assessment will be done through workplace application (3 assignments} with a formal PoE (also workspace based) as the final document.
