Mr Avhatakali Nenungwi, Director of Organisational Development and Talent Management and his Learning and Development team, welcomed the attendees and acknowledging the graduates’ dedication. Nenungwi expressed his gratitude to graduate for their commitment and highlighted that this was the first time all 45 learners enrolled in the programme successfully completed it under Human Capital Services. He emphasised their role as pioneers, inspiring future participants to strive for success.
Senior Director of Human Capital Services, Musa Mkhwanazi, addressed the graduates, stressing the importance of their professional development. He acknowledged their contribution to the university and urged them to continue improving their skills. He emphasised the significance of attitude, professionalism, and compassion, reminding them that their roles are essential to the institution’s success. He encouraged them to apply their knowledge practically, collaborate, and support one another, reassuring them that their profession remains valuable even in the age of artificial intelligence.
Dr Sean Jugmohan, Head of Executive Education at the Business School, thanked everyone involved in the programme. “The initiative started in 2019 as part of staff capacity-building efforts, originally offering a higher certificate in project management. I encourage graduates to continue their studies and expand their skills,” he said.
Mrs Mercillene Mathews, a lecturer in Human Capital, commended the graduates for balancing their studies with demanding workloads. She referred to them as the “unsung heroes” of the institution, recognising their ability to multitask, solve problems, and support their departments. She encouraged them to pursue ongoing professional growth and wished them success in their careers.
One of the graduates, Nozipho Radebe, an Administrative Assistant at the Centre for Quality Promotion and Assurance, expressed her excitement and gratitude. She shared that the certificate and skills gained from the programme would enhance her career and personal growth.
The event marked a significant milestone for DUT in living out its ENVISION2030 values, ensuring commitment and professionalism while equipping its workers for success. By investing in staff development, DUT reinforces its dedication to excellence, continuous learning, and innovation. The Office Professionals Programme graduation served as an inspiration for future cohorts and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a skilled and competent workforce, essential for institutional growth and efficiency.
