2025 Climate Change Conference

26 February - 27 February
We invite interested presenters to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words, along with a short bio of 100 words. To submit, please fill out the form by clicking on this link

Contributors should state the subtheme that best suits submission, QR Code submission are also welcome. Upon acceptance of abstracts, presenters are expected to send 10-page slides and a well-researched manuscript of between 6,000 and 8,000 words.

Publishing Opportunities

Authors whose papers are presented at the conference as well as those who might be unable to attend have the option of submitting their full papers for peer review and publication in any of the four accredited journals listed below, including an edited book.

  • AYIKA: Journal of Environment and Politics in Africa
  • Africa and Global Issues Quarterly

The abstract submission deadline has been extended to 31 January 2025.

On the 24th and 25th of February 2025, a pre-conference capacity building workshop is being planned. The workshop is targeting early career scholars (e.g.postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and lecturers) and established and senior scholars are encouraged to sign up for this capacity building workshop.

Business School

Dr Bonginkosi Zondi

Head MBA and PGDIP

Dr Zondi has a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Business Leadership all obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He also has a Credit Diploma obtained from the Institute of Bankers in South Africa. Dr Zondi has held various leadership positions in financial institutions such as ABSA and Nedbank. He is an accomplished scholar who has published journal articles in accredited Journals, supervised to completion many doctoral and Masters students. Dr Zondi has presented papers in international conferences in countries such as France, China, and South Korea to mention but a few. He is a member of editorial boards of several Journals. As part of his contribution to community engagement, Dr Zondi plays a role in knowledge sharing through indabas and conferences regarding the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to new energy vehicles. Dr Zondi is currently the Head of the Post Graduate Diploma and Master of Business Administration programmes at the DUT Business School.

Prof Pfano Mashau

Director

Pfano Mashau is an NRF C-rated Professor and a Director of the Business school at the Durban University of Technology. He also serves as chairperson for the Institutional Research Ethics Committee. He previously worked for the University of KwaZulu-natal, School of Management, IT, and Governance as an Associate Professor. He holds a PhD in Management Sciences. He is involved in lecturing at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has been appointed as an Academic Leader in Research and Higher Degrees at the School of Management IT and Governance since 2023. His research focus is on Small Business Development, Innovation, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and Agglomeration Economies. Prior to working as an academic, he worked for JET Education Services, BioRegional, and a few small businesses. Prof Mashau has published over 70 research articles, supervised ten doctoral theses to completion, and over 20 Masters dissertations. Some of the research work has been presented at international conferences. He has been an editor for a journal and books. He is a member of the Black Management Forum, BRICS Youth Forum, Pan African Research Council, and IBASA-certified Business Advisor.

Dr Sean Jugmohan

Head Executive Education

Dr Sean Jugmohan is currently HOD for Executive Education in the Business School. He was the former acting HOD of the Business School from 2020 to 2024 and the HOD for the Business Studies Unit. He worked in Higher Education for 17 years and 6 years in Further Education and Training institutions. He held many headship positions at the DUT. He first headed the Tourism department in Riverside Campus and later became the cluster head for Regional Governance and Development. The cluster included Public Management, Tourism, Law and Economics. He later joined the CQPA in 2014 and was positioned in the Faculty of Management Sciences as a Quality representative. Dr Jugmohan graduated Master and MBA students and is awaiting results for 2 PhD students. He has published in accredited journals. His ORCID number: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0640-2433
